Overview of the Best Wet Carpet Cleaners

!±8± Overview of the Best Wet Carpet Cleaners

Several manufacturers spring immediately to mind when considering wet carpet cleaning; Vax and Bissell, but there are others on the market, including one from the mighty Numatic, makers of the Henry and all of his friends.

Vax V-026 Rapide Wet and Dry
The Vax V-026 is moderately priced and is relatively light for a wet carpet cleaner. The brush bar beats the carpet to lift stubborn stains and it gives a good even clean to fitted carpets and has a flexible hose with attachments to clean upholstery, curtains and stairs.

Vax W91-RS-B-A Rapide
Despite its much lower price, this Vax also does an excellent job. Because it is smaller than other wet cleaners it is more likely to be brought out for small cleanups and also the smaller tank means that solution won't be wasted on smaller jobs.

Numatic 'George'
The George is available at a bargain price as it is not only a wet cleaner which will clean carpets and unblock drains, but an 'ordinary' vacuum cleaner as well. The George is a bit of a gadget, with lots of tubes and heads to assemble, but as long as storage is not a problem for you, he definitely is the business.

Bissell 280E Petwash
This wet carpet cleaner is ideal for the home with pets as it washes and deodorises after any 'accidents' on both carpeted and hard floors. It is a reasonably compact machine, easy to get out for smaller jobs, but robust enough for the larger all over clean.

Bissell 88D6E SpotBot
This gadget is almost too good to be true. It uses robot technology, so you can leave it while it gets on with cleaning, it automatically measures the amount of cleaner and water required and delivers 400 cleaning revolutions of its brushes before suctioning away any dirty water still in the carpet. It is small to store, inexpensive and would seem to be the answer to life's little spillages.

Conclusion
In the end, the choice will be led by price, with the Vax models being more expensive generally than the Bissell. Viewed side by side, the Vax are more sturdy and have more models to choose from, making a more precise choice led by personal requirements easier to make. If money is no object, a Vax V-124 would be the best buy, as it is sturdy and gives a far deeper clean than the usual domestic wet cleaners, forcing hot water into the carpet fibres where the spin brushes agitate to loosen the dirt which is then sucked out. It is big enough to clean a house right through without overheating and leaves the carpets quite dry - this is important to prevent 'wet carpet' smells and the need to repeat the job soon after.
